The Music Man

I normally do not do 2 posts in one day, but the events of the evening totally warrant this:

Alex auditioned tonight for the Capital Philharmonic Orchestra and he made it! Woo-hoo!! This is an actual paid position! He gets paid for each rehearsal and performance. Kinda sorta like a professional musician at 14! (To us, anyway...)

He knew the other 2 bassoonists who were auditioning, and thought he had no chance against them. But he wanted to audition anyway because he thought the audition itself would be a great experience. And then, according to Brad who heard all 3 auditions, he was the obvious winner tonight. I know that's according to the dad, but still...

So proud of you, Alex! (Always, but on this night particularly proud of your hard work!)

Here is the link to the website in case you want to come out to a concert and hear some great songs...I mean, pieces? (I'm trying, Brenda.) How about some great music?!

This is what happens when a gift combines with discipline and hard work. Way to go, Alex!
