Day 6 ~ Mail

Mail:

Quite the hodge-podge!

No good transition for this...

A peaceful Good Friday to all.  Take a moment to ponder, to reflect, to wonder, to imagine.  Sunday's coming.  And it will be a lot brighter and joyful and significant if you stop tonight and remember.  Good Friday indeed.

April Photo A Day ~ Day 5

Day 5...the word for today is STRONG!

Oh, I pondered this one for awhile.  So many directions I could have taken this.  But just for fun, for my fun, I need to choose this:

This picture obviously wasn't taken today, but c'mon, do you think I can ever get enough of this??

Another strong:

Everything about this man.  And my love for him.

Another strong:

"Fight like a girl" = STRONG!

April Photo A Day ~ Day 4

Day 4 = Tiny

A cute little tiny chocolate chip, of course.  Isn't she cute in her tiny-ness?

April Photo A Day ~ Day 3

Squeaking in at the end of the day again, but today I have a very good reason.

Today's word is warm...

This blue towel in my microwave was all the warm I needed for several hours.  Drinking 4 liters of chilled liquid in a very short time and then enjoying enduring the expected benefit of that led to extreme chills.  Shivering chills.  And my sweet hubs warmed that towel in the microwave over and over and over and put in on me before tucking a blanket tight around me.  He warms me.

April Photo A Day ~ Day 2

Today's word is soft.

I had a wonderful post written in my head about the significance of this soft little guy:

But as the day has progressed, this seemed more timely:

And that is all I have time for tonight...soft wishes for all...

April Photo A Day ~ Day 1

Oh my goodness...apparently today is April 1st!  My thoughts are a bit sluggish these last couple days.  It's the lack of fiber, I think.

So off we go with the Photo A Day!  I really had intended to be creative with this.  But then I forgot about it.  And then remembered and forgot again.  I'm squeaking in under the wire with Day One ~ My Reflection!

If I had been on the ball today, I had many great opportunities to do a fun picture.  But alas, all I have to offer is a dorky bathroom shot with a very handsome man and a lovely cookie.

I need to say something about that cookie.

We stumbled into this beauty at Trader Joes:

Just sit on that awhile.  Journey to the Center of the Cookie.  I can hardly stand it.  Delicious.  I could carry on and on about how I really see my reflection in the glistening pool of chocolate in that cookie.  But I will spare myself the effort of thought and time that would require.

Ladies and Gentlemen, The Flute Loops Have Left the Building...

(Okay, Marlece...snowman is gone!  I picked something quickly because I do love the red/brown.  I didn't realize it was all heart-y and valentine-y.  Oh, well.  Maybe another change to come, maybe not!)

For the last 4 years, Brenna and her bestie have been playing the flute together.  For three years, they have done a duet for the solo/ensemble competition.  All good things must come to an end, I suppose, and both girls have decided to end their flute careers as they head into high school.  (I can't believe I just typed those words.  My heart and mind are having trouble wrapping around the fact that my little girls is heading into high school.)

In fact, a big piece of me still expects to see this when I enter a room:

And instead, I see this beautiful young lady:

Ugh.  I just got myself all teary-eyed.

Anyway, back to Brenna and Julia.  They have called themselves The Flute Loops for these past 3 years.  They have giggled and laughed their way through many practice sessions.

And on Saturday, they officially ended their flute duet days with a great performance, sweetly earning a Superior once again.

I love that the adjudicator complemented these two girls on the way they performed with poise and confidence.  They are poised, beautiful, confident young ladies, and I can't wait to watch them enter this next season with that same happy, giggly, poised confidence!

Pre-performance posing.

Warming up (and giggling out the nerves) with a little coaching from Julia's music-master dad!

Performing beautifully.

The traditional post-performance trip for ice cream!

I love both these girls so much.  Brenna I love for obvious and innumerable reasons.  Julia I love for many reasons, but here's my top three:

1. She has a very infectious, happy laugh.
2. She tells me my food tastes like it should be in a restaurant.
3. She is a great friend and loves my little girl.

So goodbye to The Flute Loops, but hello to many more happy memories to come!!
